SAPPHIST POEM READING

What a well-read coven we formed last night, under the Moon and over the Sun. We read some delicious poems and talked of no less delicious prose, curiously enough some written by men, not women. I chose one that reminds me a lot of myself—I had to go for the 1800s, I am a total donkey when it comes to the classics, I am afraid. Something to improve in the future!

There it goes:

They shut me up in Prose –

BY EMILY DICKINSON

They shut me up in Prose –

As when a little Girl

They put me in the Closet –

Because they liked me “still”   –

Still! Could themself have peeped –

And seen my Brain – go round –

They might as wise have lodged a Bird

For Treason – in the Pound –

Himself has but to will

And easy as a Star

Look down upon Captivity –

And laugh – No more have I –

KRANZLER CAFE

I am Lu, Connie's "driver" of sorts. I live in the next 20s, the ones full of craziness of a different sort to those of Connie.
Today, making use of a quiet moment at work, I googled photos of the Kranzler cafĂ© distractedly. There it was, in tons of old postcards, looking back at me, with the beautiful apartments above it - including the one inhabited by her.

Then I stumbled upon a more modern photograph, one of the same place in the 40s, then a pile of rubble. A middle-aged fat man standing close by, as if waiting for someone to build it up again so he can have his daily kaffee and Franzbrötchen sitting at one of its elegant tables. He will have to wait for Frau Jo to make it exactly as it was in a virtual world, many years after his death, I am afraid.

And then it begins, I go over a few of those war photographs and start sobbing like a baby. It's not that I hadn't seen Berlin after the war, of course, but this is the first time I see it with the eyes of a resident of the old Berlin, the one before it all went to shit.

I have a nasty feeling that one day I will cry like so, looking at photos of our own age.

THE SECRET RENDEZVOUS

So violets go out to play on Monday nights. They do a different thing every time, yesterday it was tennis turn. What a laugh, and luckily for them I didn't attempt a shot.
Can't wait for Monday next!

PS - ((oh yes, I changed my name. Connie Branagan it is this time around. much more 20s, and one of my favourite names since I was a little girl. Maybe I should adopt it in RL too))

SATURDAY NIGHT 1

 ... so much to tell.

Let's start at the end, or I will never start at all.

Last night El Dorado re-opened its doors after a month, and a bit since Sonatta left us.

and this lady

had the ovaries to have the first go at filling her shoes. I take my hat off.

She did so well too, didn't fail once! Didn't puke either. Her moves were a bit repetitive, but any of us would not have been able to move at all and she even took off a ribbon or two! Brilliant for a first night! Her name is Kelly Callahan—will she be our the next Queen of Berlin every Saturday night?

Watch this space.

Yep, our beloved Berlin Project, 1929 is officially joining the teenage gang, so if it was mischievous before, God forbid what's about to happen— especially since RL is giving us such a hard time in the new 20s.

Godspeed everyone.

More later.

SONATTA MORALES

I always looked at the lady with respect. How otherwise?

With Frau Jo herself, Sonatta was without a doubt the Goddess of Berlin.

That is Berlin Project 1929, the sim in SL where time travel became a reality. And Sonatta was, to a large extent, one of the wonderful avatars who made the magic possible.

Yes, I had always looked at her with respect. The way one looks at terribly famous people or her real-life heroes; I even took her for someone slightly haughty— that is until the night she let me take that photo. She had been preparing the inaugural show in London 1940s. She obliged, nearly abashed somehow as if surprised by the attention, then she posed for ages until I let her get on. There was a smile in the way this lady did things.

The last I heard of her was that she couldn't carry out her burlesque show in EL DORADO as every Saturday, she wasn't well.

1929 and every year since will now never be the same.

PLATY BEACH HOUSE

Delicious little bar by the sea.

With plenty of opportunities for nice photos and romantic times;

And very good music to treat those pixelated ears;

and a PLAYABLE pool table!! (also a 4 in Row playable game, one of these days I must learn to play games in SL :));

the atmosphere is just perfect, and there are some very cool and unusual pieces of furniture that suit the place like a glove.

In fact so nice is this bar that one doesn't just tick the passport and leaves, I wish I had some friends around at the moment to share some pints here with!

oh well, I can do with a nice glass of wine while I write this post for the blog. And for those Bellisserians with time and friends for a pint and a game of pool in a beautiful place by the sea, the taxi : http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dashwood/156/194/24

HIGHER EDUCATION

[04:11] Major General Badger (halesuhtem): Um, if there are any staff on duty, there's a naked couple is copulating on the stage at the Lecture Hall at Oxbridge.

((Maybe they were imparting a lecture on sex? it is 2021, anything is possible))

SLENDER'S GALLERY

And what a better way to start knowing Bellisseria than by visiting its equally feared and loved celebrity:
Mr Slenderman's gallery.
I must admit I didn't have the ovaries to walk to the back of the property and check his, ahem, garden— but the photos and the atmosphere are well worth the visit.
I even managed to catch a glimpse of Slender himself! Though he fizzled out before I could apprehend him.
Next time, spooky!

(this one was kindly donated by the photographer himself)

(and some very cool sky effects, also kindly donated by Mr Spooky
himself)

SMILE!

So that is the thing, right there. It's not that I am a moody bitch and don't want to smile at you, but that I altered my mesh head so severely now I look as if I am in pain somewhere when I try to do so.

And so the Lindens decided to create cool neighborhoods for the members, finally. More on this later. Happy day everyone.

SL Hardships

Goddammit, I have been laid up for so long I've apparently forgotten how to wear bloomers. I kid you not. No matter what I try, I cannot...
