WINTER SOLSTICE IN THE WANNSEE - and a certain wedding

And so it came to happen, that herr Solstice and Frl Mockingbird became even more joined by the heap. I hope I never have to fall in love and en up using one of those horrid couple walking huds...

As I predicted, Tequila realised before the 'I do' what she was about to do and did a runner as the Brits would say. Luckily for 'Solstice', she came back in time though and the ceremony (officiated by Capitain Cad, who needed a shot or two of rum to carry out the deed) got to a succesful ending (for herr Solstice anyway).

I cannot go into too much detail, as Dorita asked me to write a piece for the Tageblatt, but it was a bit of a wet wedding — no it was not raining, but right in the middle of the Wannsee, and in a boat *shivers* ; our beloved landlady turned up with a new dress which caused several of us to faint and in the end of the ceremony (which I will describe in more detail when the paper publishes the article) she deligted us with what I thought was Irish stepdance on steroids — I had a laughing fit of such violence those around me thought I was suffering some neurological disorder.

A bus driven by the always elegant — and terribly versatile — Frau Ross (Amelie) took us back to Berlin. The couple in question got out of the bus early and apparently had a first taste of their honeymoon right there, judging by their appearance when they re-joined us at the Adlone for the reception that happened in the most magical of set ups, a glass & snow wood, all very pagan and enchanting, druid and reindeers included.

And with this and a cake... till tomorrow at eight as the Spanish go.

For now just a few (hundred) photos to remember the event.

PS - thank you all those involved in organising, thank you Cad for the most terrific wedding "script" ever (If I am to agree to marry in either world at last it will be under the condition you do the honors once more, I am sorry), and very specially thanks to the couple for having us sharing the day with them. I am sure I am not alone in wishing them a very long and solstice-magic second life together.

PSS - Frau Jo has arms.

PSSS- let me repeat that. Frau Jo has arms. *faints again*

CHRISTMAS IS HERE

And Clarrington brought it to Berlin for us. And with Clarringon, Weiss? (I believe) Industries brought us a Christmas dinner at the Kranzler that was nothing short of a ... magical event!

We kept on floating from chair to chair (every time anyone clicked "Swap" to get into a more agreeable pose, I suppose) It was hillarious—One minute I am picking Herr Graves pockets for Marzipan the next my hand is stuck in Herr Valerian's!! and so on and so forth.

Unfortunately I have no pictures of the event, busy as I was holding on to the table for dear life.

It is fabulous to have an event a little earlier for those of us who run to our beds before European midnight.

After the dinner we all headed to the Christmas fair where we could shop for Chritsmas bits and bobs, dance and even enjoy the presence of some other animals, including bears *shudders* —bet you anything Solstice had something to do with that— They seemed quite content though, eating bread and watching crazy humans do their usual thing.

The Dance machines didn't offer couple's dances, it must be a new measure of the new Germany, we are not allowed to take drugs... or dance in couples. Everything is possilbe, after all it is the 20s, right? (dejavu dejavu ... from a hundred years into the future when we also won't be allowed to move in close proximity to other humans, don't ask me how I know)

In any case we all had a good time.

oh, before I forget, HAPPY FESTIVE SEASON EVERYONE WHO CELEBRATES IT.

RAIN WATER AND HEAD DOCTORS

So lovely to see the Nussbaum open again. Herr Grau, the manager - and incidentally the first Berliner I ever met, right outside the station - looks a little aged, but every bit as distinguised as years back.

Dr Watts, a head doctor, happened to also be there. Good thing since Charles suffered a bout of Disappearing Desease something silly, we couldn't hold him to his chair for 5 minutes.

The doctor has agreed to play ink drops ... flops ... BLOTS! with me when he opens a clinic.

And on the way out—sugar! it never rains in Berlin but when it does one really wishes it didn't!

 Küsse, my darlings !

FRL NARCISSUS

Connie's portrait by Delphine Marie.

Now I know why the ladies of Berlin fill their homes with their own portraits. There is something mischievously delicious in staring at oneself looking THAT good. My Real Life 'driver' keeps on saying Delphina has given me life, I am not quite sure what she means by that. I guess she likes it too.
thank you, gorgeous!

FRIDAY

Nothing like wine, and bikes and Fridays... HIC!

THE LAST DANCE

The last dance of the year at the Mitropa. We will be swinging again in 1930!! We can all feel what a wonderful new decade awaits. Just like in a hundred years for now!!

Ernst unleashed. His beautiful wife is busy looking for a nanny these days, also painting... but that's another story and —like the master said— will be told on another occasion.

A misterious exotic creature.

Angelo seemed lost in thought tonight—On second thought, he seems lost in thought since yesterday. Something seems to have happened to him since he had his hair cut. A case of Samsonitis?

A few changes at the Mitropa— as enchanting as ever.

The party-goers enjoying themselves.

The band enjoying themselves even more than the party-goers.

Did I see that lad on my last visit to Birmingham's underbelly a couple of years back? Juliette doesn't seem to mind his scars.

It was a lovely party, and to land gently, we taxied straight to the Keller— again, that is another story and bladibladiblah.
 Good night my darlings.

A MYSTERIOUS BOOK FROM A MYSTERIOUS CHARACTER - MYSTERIOUSNESS CONTINUES IN BOTH WORLDS

Still trapped, but in the odd moments I allow myself to rest I am reading a curious thing. It's a magic book one of the veterans used ...
